brew install imagemagick
ImageMagick is going to want to use the Helvetica font to generate the
letter-avatars:
```sh
brew install fondu
cd ~/Library/Fonts
fondu /System/Library/Fonts/Helvetica.dfont
mkdir ~/.magick
cd ~/.magick
curl http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/scripts/imagick_type_gen > type_gen
find /System/Library/Fonts /Library/Fonts ~/Library/Fonts -name "*.[to]tf" | perl type_gen -f - > type.xml
cd /usr/local/Cellar/imagemagick/<version>/etc/ImageMagick-6
```
Edit system config file called "type.xml" and add line near end to tell IM to
look at local file we made in earlier step
```
<typemap>
<include file="type-ghostscript.xml" />
<include file="~/.magick/type.xml" /> ### THIS LINE ADDED
</typemap>
```

Set up [MailCatcher](https://github.com/sj26/mailcatcher) so the app can intercept
outbound email and you can verify what is being sent.
## Additional Setup Tasks
You may have issues installing therubyracer when running `bundle install`
because of a dependency on libv8. This is how to fix it:
```sh
brew tap homebrew/versions
brew uninstall v8
brew install v8-315
gem uninstall -a libv8
gem uninstall -a therubyracer
gem install libv8 -v '3.16.14.13' -- --with-system-v8
gem install therubyracer -v '0.12.2' -- --with-v8-dir=$(brew --prefix
v8-315)
```
In addition to ImageMagick we also need to install some other image related
software:
```sh
brew install optipng
npm install -g svgo
```
Install jhead
```sh
curl -O "http://www.sentex.net/~mwandel/jhead/jhead-2.97.tar.gz"
tar xzf jhead-2.97.tar.gz
cd jhead-2.97
make
make install
```
