Build: Move test framework files to their new location The test jar was previously built in maven by copying class files. With gradle we now have a proper test framework artifact. This change moves the classes used by the test framework into the test-framework module. See #13930

Add snapshot only test modules (#61954) This commit adds external test modules. These are modules meant for external systems to test edge cases in elasticsearch, but only within snapshots. They are not meant to be used in production, so protections are also added from their accidental inclusion in release builds. Note that this commit does not actually add any new modules, it only adds the infrastructure for the new modules, under `test/external-modules`.

[Rename] Fix gradle build as part of the renaming process. (#397) This commit fixes the currently broken gradle build resulted from the renaming work. It reverts a few dependencies and comments out the `opensearch_distibutions` task which is currently failing for some builds. Make -try xlint warning disabled by default. (#40833) Many gradle projects specifically use the -try exclude flag, because there are many cases where auto-closeable resource ignore is never referenced in body of corresponding try statement. Suppressing this warning specifically in each case that it happens using `@SuppressWarnings("try")` would be very verbose. This change removes `-try` from any gradle project and adds it to the build plugin. Also this change removes exclude flags from gradle projects that is already specified in build plugin (for example -deprecation). Relates to #40366

Use task avoidance with forbidden apis (#55034) Currently forbidden apis accounts for 800+ tasks in the build. These tasks are aggressively created by the plugin. In forbidden apis 3.0, we will get task avoidance (https://github.com/policeman-tools/forbidden-apis/pull/162), but we need to ourselves use the same task avoidance mechanisms to not trigger these task creations. This commit does that for our foribdden apis usages, in preparation for upgrading to 3.0 when it is released.

Remove Log4j 1.2 API as a dependency (#42702) We had this as a dependency for legacy dependencies that still needed the Log4j 1.2 API. This appears to no longer be necessary, so this commit removes this artifact as a dependency. To remove this dependency, we had to fix a few places where we were accidentally relying on Log4j 1.2 instead of Log4j 2 (easy to do, since both APIs were on the compile-time classpath). Finally, we can remove our custom Netty logger factory. This was needed when we were on Log4j 1.2 and handled logging in our own unique way. When we migrated to Log4j 2 we could have dropped this dependency. However, even then Netty would still pick up Log4j 1.2 since it was on the classpath, thus the advantage to removing this as a dependency now.

Add task to look for tests in src/main (#24298) Creates a new task `namingConventionsMain`, that runs on the `buildSrc` and `test:framework` projects and fails the build if any of the classes in the main artifacts are named like tests or are non-abstract subclasses of ESTestCase. It also fixes the three tests that would cause it to fail.

Test that gradle and Java version types match (#24943) Both gradle and java code attempt to infer the type of a each Version constant in Version.java. It is super important that they infer that each constant has the same type. If they disagree we might accidentally not be testing backwards compatibility for some version. This adds a test to make sure that they agree, modulo known and accepted differences (mostly around alphas). It also changes the minimum wire compatible version from the released 5.4.0 to the unreleased 5.5.0 as that lines up with the gradle logic. Relates to #24798 Note that the gradle and java version logic doesn't actually match so this contains a hack to make it *look* like it matches. Since this is a start, I'm merging it and going to work on some followups to make the logic actually match.....

Add a verifyVersions to the test FW (#47192) The test FW has a method to check that it's implementation of getting index and wire compatible versions as well as reasoning about which version is released or not produces the same rezults as the simillar implementation in the build. This PR adds the `verifyVersions` task to the test FW so we have one task to check everything related to versions.
