From 7a18bb50fc15da42f917b6fd70dc46041fa58934 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Lee Hinman Date: Tue, 8 Nov 2016 16:47:50 -0700 Subject: [PATCH] Disable _all by default This change disables the _all meta field by default. Now that we have the "all-fields" method of query execution, we can save both indexing time and disk space by disabling it. _all can no longer be configured for indices created after 6.0. Relates to #20925 and #21341 Resolves #19784 --- .../index/mapper/AllFieldMapper.java | 8 +- .../org/elasticsearch/get/GetActionIT.java | 39 +- .../AbstractNumericFieldMapperTestCase.java | 8 - ...lFieldMapperPositionIncrementGapTests.java | 109 ---- .../index/mapper/AllFieldMapperTests.java | 490 ------------------ .../index/mapper/DateFieldMapperTests.java | 38 -- .../mapper/DocumentMapperParserTests.java | 2 - .../index/mapper/DocumentParserTests.java | 44 -- .../mapper/FieldNamesFieldMapperTests.java | 4 +- .../index/mapper/IpFieldMapperTests.java | 38 -- .../index/mapper/MapperServiceTests.java | 15 +- .../index/mapper/NumberFieldMapperTests.java | 39 -- .../index/mapper/RangeFieldMapperTests.java | 50 -- .../mapper/ScaledFloatFieldMapperTests.java | 40 -- .../mapper/UpdateMappingOnClusterIT.java | 149 ++---- .../index/mapper/UpdateMappingTests.java | 32 -- .../query/QueryStringQueryBuilderTests.java | 3 - .../query/SimpleQueryStringBuilderTests.java | 10 +- .../routing/AliasResolveRoutingIT.java | 3 +- .../bucket/SignificantTermsIT.java | 34 +- .../highlight/HighlighterSearchIT.java | 94 +--- .../search/morelikethis/MoreLikeThisIT.java | 4 +- .../search/nested/SimpleNestedIT.java | 9 +- .../search/query/QueryStringIT.java | 8 + .../search/query/SearchQueryIT.java | 64 +-- .../search/query/SimpleQueryStringIT.java | 20 +- .../search/suggest/SuggestSearchIT.java | 14 - .../validate/SimpleValidateQueryIT.java | 4 +- .../template/filebeat-5.0.template.json | 3 - .../template/logstash-5.0.template.json | 1 - .../template/metricbeat-5.0.template.json | 3 - .../template/packetbeat-5.0.template.json | 3 - .../template/winlogbeat-5.0.template.json | 3 - .../all/multifield-mapping_default.json | 20 - ...d-mapping_include_in_all_set_to_false.json | 22 - .../update/all_mapping_create_index.json | 28 - .../all_mapping_update_with_conflicts.json | 16 - ...ault_mapping_with_disabled_root_types.json | 1 - .../query/all-query-index-with-all.json | 3 + .../search/query/all-query-index.json | 3 - docs/reference/mapping.asciidoc | 25 +- .../mapping/dynamic/default-mapping.asciidoc | 12 +- .../mapping/dynamic/templates.asciidoc | 8 +- docs/reference/mapping/fields.asciidoc | 2 +- .../mapping/fields/all-field.asciidoc | 86 +-- .../migration/migrate_6_0/mappings.asciidoc | 9 + docs/reference/search/validate.asciidoc | 20 +- .../test/count/20_query_string.yaml | 2 - .../test/explain/30_query_string.yaml | 2 - .../20_query_string.yaml | 2 - .../test/search/60_query_string.yaml | 2 - 51 files changed, 234 insertions(+), 1414 deletions(-) delete mode 100644 core/src/test/java/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/AllFieldMapperPositionIncrementGapTests.java delete mode 100644 core/src/test/java/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/AllFieldMapperTests.java delete mode 100644 core/src/test/resources/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/all/multifield-mapping_default.json delete mode 100644 core/src/test/resources/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/all/multifield-mapping_include_in_all_set_to_false.json delete mode 100644 core/src/test/resources/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/update/all_mapping_create_index.json delete mode 100644 core/src/test/resources/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/update/all_mapping_update_with_conflicts.json delete mode 100644 core/src/test/resources/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/update/default_mapping_with_disabled_root_types.json diff --git a/core/src/main/java/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/AllFieldMapper.java b/core/src/main/java/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/AllFieldMapper.java index a0f7ad57d04..d77a99cf365 100644 --- a/core/src/main/java/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/AllFieldMapper.java +++ b/core/src/main/java/org/elasticsearch/index/mapper/AllFieldMapper.java @@ -23,6 +23,7 @@ import org.apache.lucene.index.IndexOptions;
