[Docs] Fix script-fields snippet execution (#30693)
Currently the first snippet in the documentation test in script-fields.asciidoc
isn't executed, although it has the CONSOLE annotation. Adding a test setup
annotation to it seems to fix the problem.

Make http pipelining support mandatory (#30695)
This is related to #29500 and #28898. This commit removes the abilitiy
to disable http pipelining. After this commit, any elasticsearch node
will support pipelined requests from a client. Additionally, it extracts
some of the http pipelining work to the server module. This extracted
work is used to implement pipelining for the nio plugin.

Itamar Syn-Hershko 5f172b6795 [Feature] Adding a char_group tokenizer (#24186)
=== Char Group Tokenizer

The `char_group` tokenizer breaks text into terms whenever it encounters
a
character which is in a defined set. It is mostly useful for cases where
a simple
custom tokenization is desired, and the overhead of use of the
<<analysis-pattern-tokenizer, `pattern` tokenizer>>
is not acceptable.

=== Configuration

The `char_group` tokenizer accepts one parameter:

`tokenize_on_chars`::
    A string containing a list of characters to tokenize the string on.
Whenever a character
    from this list is encountered, a new token is started. Also supports
escaped values like `\\n` and `\\f`,
    and in addition `\\s` to represent whitespace, `\\d` to represent
digits and `\\w` to represent letters.
    Defaults to an empty list.

=== Example output

```The 2 QUICK Brown-Foxes jumped over the lazy dog's bone for $2```
When the configuration `\\s-:<>` is used for `tokenize_on_chars`, the
above sentence would produce the following terms:
```[ The, 2, QUICK, Brown, Foxes, jumped, over, the, lazy, dog's, bone,
for, $2 ]```

Test: wait for netty threads in a JUnit ClassRule (#30763)
This commit changes the wait for a few netty threads to wait for these
threads to complete after the cluster has stopped. Previously, we were
waiting for these threads before the cluster was actually stopped; the
cluster is stopped in an AfterClass method of ESIntegTestCase, while
the wait was performed in the AfterClass of a class that extended
ESIntegTestCase, which is always executed before the AfterClass of
ESIntegTestCase.

Now, the wait is contained in an ExternalResource ClassRule that
implements the waiting for the threads to terminate in the after
method. This rule is executed after the AfterClass method in
ESIntegTestCase. The same fix has also been applied in
SecuritySingleNodeTestCase.

Increase the maximum number of filters that may be in the cache. (#30655)
We added this limit because we occasionally saw cases where most of the memory
usage of the cache was spent on the keys (ie. queries) rather than the values,
which caused the cache to vastly underestimate its memory usage. In recent
releases, we disabled caching on heavy `terms` queries, which were the main
source of the problem, so putting more entries in the cache should be safer.

[Security] Include an empty json object in an json array when FLS filters out all fields (#30709)
Prior to this change an json array element with no fields would be omitted from json array.
Nested inner hits source filtering relies on the fact that the json array element numbering
remains untouched and this causes AOOB exceptions in the ES side during the fetch phase
without this change.

Yannick Welsch e6a784c474 [TEST] Wait for CS to be fully applied in testDeleteCreateInOneBulk
The test has an issue that exhibits only super rarely. The test sets the publish
timeout to 0, then proceeds to block cluster state processing on a data node,
then deletes an index and recreates it, and finally removes the cluster state
processing block. Finally, it calls ensureGreen, which might now return before
the data node has fully applied the cluster state that removed and readded the
shard, due to the publish timeout of 0. This commit waits for the cluster state
to be fully processed on the data node before doing the search.

Enable installing plugins from snapshots.elastic.co (#30765)
We post snapshot builds to snapshots.elastic.co yet the official plugin
installer will not let you install such plugins without manually
downloading them and installing them from a file URL. This commit adds
the ability for the plugin installer to use snapshots.elastic.co for
installing official plugins if a es.plugins.staging is set and the
current build is also a snapshot build. Otherwise, we continue to use
staging.elastic.co if the current build is a release build and
es.plugins.staging is set and, of course, use the release artifacts at
artifacts.elastic.co for release builds with es.plugins.staging unset.

QA: Switch rolling upgrade to 3 nodes (#30728)
Switches the rolling upgrade tests from upgrading two nodes to upgrading
three nodes which is much more realistic and much better able to find
unexpected bugs. It upgrades the nodes one at a time and runs tests
between each upgrade. As such this now has four test runs:

1. Old
2. One third upgraded
3. Two thirds upgraded
4. Upgraded

It sets system properties so the tests can figure out which stage they
are in. It reuses the same yml tests for the "one third" and "two
thirds" cases because they are *almost* the same case.

This rewrites the yml-based indexing tests to be Java based because the
yml-based tests can't handle different expected values for the counts.
And the indexing tests need that when they are run twice.

[ML] Don't install empty ML metadata on startup (#30751)
This change is to support rolling upgrade from a pre-6.3 default
distribution (i.e. without X-Pack) to a 6.3+ default distribution
(i.e. with X-Pack).

The ML metadata is no longer eagerly added to the cluster state
as soon as the master node has X-Pack available. Instead, it
is added when the first ML job is created.

As a result all methods that get the ML metadata need to be able
to handle the situation where there is no ML metadata in the
current cluster state. They do this by behaving as though an
empty ML metadata was present. This logic is encapsulated by
always asking for the current ML metadata using a static method
on the MlMetadata class.

Hendrik Muhs 6c313a9871 This implementation lazily (on 1st forecast request) checks for available
diskspace and creates a subfolder for storing data outside of Lucene
indexes, but as part of the ES data paths.

Details:
 - tmp storage is managed and does not allow allocation if disk space is
   below a threshold (5GB at the moment)
 - tmp storage is supposed to be managed by the native component but in
   case this fails cleanup is provided:
    - on job close
    - on process crash
    - after node crash, on restart
 - available space is re-checked for every forecast call (the native
   component has to check again before writing)

Note: The 1st path that has enough space is chosen on job open (job
close/reopen triggers a new search)
