This commit removes the 'oss' string which was a remnant of the predecessor distribution flavors. As OpenSearch has no flavors for distributions, we are removing this tag from all the distribution names.

This commit removes the references for the `default` docker distributions which were originally part of the different flavors of distributions. This also fixes some of the failing docker compose tests under `qa`.

This commit refactors instances of 'elasticsearch' with opensearch everywhere
except references to issues, and other places needed to test compatibility with
old elasticsearch clusters.

This commit fixes the currently broken gradle build resulted from the renaming work. It reverts a few dependencies and comments out the `opensearch_distibutions` task which is currently failing for some builds. We will address these separately in the future once we have a working build.

This commit changes the building, packaging, and testing framework to only support OSS on different distributions.
Next steps:
completely remove -oss flag dependencies in package and build tests
move 6.x bwc testing to be an explicit option
remove any references to elastic.co download site (or replace with downloads from the OSS website)

- Replace immediate task creations by using task avoidance api
- One step closer to #56610
- Still many tasks are created during configuration phase. Tackled in separate steps
* Split internal distribution handling into separate internal plugin (#60295)
* Provide proper failure if unexpected non jdk bundled bwc version is requested
* Replace compile configuration usage with api (#58451)
- Use java-library instead of plugin to allow api configuration usage
- Remove explicit references to runtime configurations in dependency declarations
- Make test runtime classpath input for testing convention
- required as java library will by default not have build jar file
- jar file is now explicit input of the task and gradle will ensure its properly build
* Fix compile usages in 7.x branch
* Remove usage of deprecated testCompile configuration
* Replace testCompile usage by testImplementation
* Make testImplementation non transitive by default (as we did for testCompile)
* Update CONTRIBUTING about using testImplementation for test dependencies
* Fail on testCompile configuration usage
Backport of #55073.
We added tasks to build an ARM distribution and Docker image, but didn't
provide any way to run packaging tests against them. Add extra loops on
the possible Architecture values, and skip tasks that can't be run on
the current Architecture.
Backport of #53126.
Convert the Wildfly tests to run using Docker Compose. This drastically
simplifies the build setup, and will hopefully make the tests more
resilient.
When testing wildfly with Elasticsearch, we currently dump the wildfly
log if the test fails. However, when starting wildfly we may fail to
find the port number wildfly started on, and fail with no output. This
change dumps the wildflog log when failing to find the http or
management ports.
relates #49374
Backport of #48849. Update `.editorconfig` to make the Java settings the
default for all files, and then apply a 2-space indent to all `*.gradle`
files. Then reformat all the files.
* Restrict which tasks can use testclusters
This PR fixes a problem between the interaction of test-clusters and
build cache.
Before this any task could have used a cluster without tracking it as
input.
With this change a new interface is introduced to track the tasks that
can use clusters and we do consider the cluster as input for all of
them.
We had this as a dependency for legacy dependencies that still needed
the Log4j 1.2 API. This appears to no longer be necessary, so this
commit removes this artifact as a dependency.
To remove this dependency, we had to fix a few places where we were
accidentally relying on Log4j 1.2 instead of Log4j 2 (easy to do, since
both APIs were on the compile-time classpath).
Finally, we can remove our custom Netty logger factory. This was needed
when we were on Log4j 1.2 and handled logging in our own unique
way. When we migrated to Log4j 2 we could have dropped this
dependency. However, even then Netty would still pick up Log4j 1.2 since
it was on the classpath, thus the advantage to removing this as a
dependency now.
We have faked some Ivy repositories on a few artifact locations. Today
when Gradle attempts to resolve these artifacts, it follows its default
strategy to search for Gradle metadata, then Maven POM files, then Ivy
descriptors, and finally will fallback to looking directly for the
artifact. This wastes times on remote network calls that will 404 anyway
since these metadata resources will not exist for these fake Ivy
repositories. This commit overrides the Gradle strategy to look directly
for artifacts.
* Replace usages RandomizedTestingTask with built-in Gradle Test (#40978)
This commit replaces the existing RandomizedTestingTask and supporting code with Gradle's built-in JUnit support via the Test task type. Additionally, the previous workaround to disable all tasks named "test" and create new unit testing tasks named "unitTest" has been removed such that the "test" task now runs unit tests as per the normal Gradle Java plugin conventions.

* Fix forking JVM runner
* Don't bump shadow plugin version
* Swithc to jcenter
Jcenter suposedly operates on a CDN.
It should be faster and more reliable.
It's the default in Andorid Studio currently
( it switched from mavenCentral ).
This change is safe because jcenter is a superset of mavenCentral.
* update comment
With this change, `Version` no longer carries information about the qualifier,
we still need a way to show the "display version" that does have both
qualifier and snapshot. This is now stored by the build and red from `META-INF`.
WildflyIT test fails in a FIPS JVM due to the amount of output in stderr. The excessive stderr output is due to https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8202893 and is not an indication of a failure that should be tracked.
This commit adjusts the limit to something more lenient that would allow the test to succeed.
Reverts #32543
This commit (which will be reverted soon) adds logging on the output of
starting Wildfly. This is needed to debug an issue with Wildfly not
starting in CI.
* Decouple XContentBuilder from BytesReference
This commit removes all mentions of `BytesReference` from `XContentBuilder`.
This is needed so that we can completely decouple the XContent code and move it
into its own dependency.
While this change appears large, it is due to two main changes, moving
`.bytes()` and `.string()` out of XContentBuilder itself into static methods
`BytesReference.bytes` and `Strings.toString` respectively. The rest of the
change is code reacting to these changes (the majority of it in tests).
Relates to #28504
* Move more XContent.createParser calls to non-deprecated version
This moves more of the callers to pass in the DeprecationHandler.
Relates to #28504
* Use parser's deprecation handler where available
Previously we disabled these tests on JDK 9 and JDK 10 because Wildfly
10 did not support JDK 9 and JDK 10. With the release of Wildfly 11
supporting JDK 9 and JDK 10 and now that we depend on Wildfly 11 in
these tests, we can enable these tests on JDK 9 and JDK 10.
Relates #28042
This commit fixes a flubbed assertion in the Wildfly build file; the
intention was to assert that we have only set the value of the
management port once except the assertion that the management port was
equal to zero when finding a matching log line was left off.
The Wildfly tests previously needed hardcoded ports which would
sometimes already be in use leading to Wildfly test failures because the
server could not bind during startup. We had to wait until some upstream
changes (wildfly/wildfly#9943) and (wildfly/wildfly-core#2390) were
released before we could use ephemeral ports in these tests. These
changes are released now so this commit changes the Wildfly tests to use
ephemeral ports when starting Wildfly.

* Adds task dependenciesInfo to BuildPlugin to generate a CSV file with dependencies information (name,version,url,license)
* Adds `ConcatFilesTask.groovy` to concatenates multiple files into one
* Adds task `:distribution:generateDependenciesReport` to concatenate `dependencies.csv` files into a single file (`es-dependencies.csv` by default)
# Examples:
$ gradle dependenciesInfo :distribution:generateDependenciesReport
## Use `csv` system property to customize the output file path
$ gradle dependenciesInfo :distribution:generateDependenciesReport -Dcsv=/tmp/elasticsearch-dependencies.csv
## When branch is not master, use `build.branch` system property to generate correct licenses URLs
$ gradle dependenciesInfo :distribution:generateDependenciesReport -Dbuild.branch=6.x -Dcsv=/tmp/elasticsearch-dependencies.csv
