ci: fix the payload-size checking scripts (#20683) The scripts were accidentally broken in #20524. More specifically, when a limit was exceeded the script would break while trying to log an error message due to a missing `commit` variable. This commit fixes it and also does some minor clean-up (improve docs, use more descriptive variable names, remove dead code, etc). PR Close #20683

However, #41129 introduced the `ThemeToggleComponent`, which will be present on all pages (since it is located in the top-menu) and relies on the `Material Icons` font. Therefore, the work-around for loading the `Material Icons` font is no longer necessary. This commit removes the now redundant `MatIcon` from `AppComponent`. PR Close #42584

However, the CSS styles (which also have a non-negligible size) must also be downloaded and parsed by the browser, thus affecting the initial rendering time. fix(docs-infra): convert external links to `MatIconButton`s (#42584) This commit changes the anchor elements used for external links to `MatIconButton`s. While the appearance remains the same (with the exception of hover/focus styles), this better aligns the styling of external link icons with other nearby icon buttons (i.e. the theme toggle) and alows as to simplify the CSS for external links (since much of their styling is handled by Angular Material). refactor(core): remove the need for `ɵɵinjectPipeChangeDetectorRef()` (#41231) This instruction was created to work around a problem with injecting a `ChangeDetectorRef` into a pipe. See #31438. This fix required special metadata for when the thing being injected was a `ChangeDetectorRef`. Now this is handled by adding a flag `InjectorFlags.ForPipe` to the `ɵɵdirectiveInject()` call, which avoids the need to special test_cases `ChangeDetectorRef` in the generated code. PR Close #41231
