The `aio` commit message scope was renamed to `docs-infra` (which is
more descriptive) in #24295. Although it has been removed from the
documentation, the legacy `aio` scope was kept in the [list of valid
scopes][1] to cater for in-flight PRs that already used it. As a result,
it still shows up as a recommended, valid scope in the error message
shown when commit message validation fails during `git commit`. This is
misleading, especially for new contributors.
Since we have been "manually" discouraging people from using `aio`,
there should be no open PRs by now (and if there are, they should be
changed to `docs-infra`), so it is safe to remove it from the list of
allowed scopes.

Adds `zone.js` as valid scope for commit messages. This
is necessary because the `zone.js` repository has been
moved into the mono-repo and future changes should be
categorized properly through commit messages.
Currently the pre-commit git hook or CircleCI will fail when
`zone.js` is used as commit scope.

This PR was merged without API docs and general rollout plan.
We can't release this as is in 5.1 without a plan for documentation, cli integration, etc.
Right now HEAD and 5.0.x have a branch deviation and therefore
all the commits between both branches are being compared. There
exists a problematic commit which has a commit message that is
longer than 100 commits. This patch will temporarily increase
the limit to 120 so that CI passes. Once master is resumed to
being the primary development branch (once 5.0.0 is out) then
the the msg limit will be set back to 100.
This service worker is a conceptual derivative of the existing @angular/service-worker maintained at github.com/angular/mobile-toolkit, but has been rewritten to support use across a much wider variety of applications.
Entrypoints include:
@angular/service-worker: a library for use within Angular client apps to communicate with the service worker.
@angular/service-worker/gen: a library for generating ngsw.json files from glob-based SW config files.
@angular/service-worker/ngsw-worker.js: the bundled service worker script itself.
@angular/service-worker/ngsw-cli.js: a CLI tool for generating ngsw.json files from glob-based SW config files.
With this commit `ngc` is used instead of `tsc-wrapped` for
collecting metadata and tsickle rewriting and `tsc-wrapped`
is removed from the repository.
`@angular/tsc-wrapped@5` is now deprecated and is no longer
used, updated, or maintained as part as of Angular 5.x.x.
`@angular/tsc-wrapped@4` is still maintained and required by
Angular 4.x.x and will be maintained as long as 4.x.x is in
LTS.

This patch adds the gulp command of `validate-commit-messages`
which will validate the range of commits messages present in the
active branch.
This check now runs on CI as part of the linting checks.
Allowed commit message types and scopes are controlled via commit-message.json file
and documented at https://github.com/angular/angular/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#-commit-message-guidelines
This solution is based on old Vojta's code that he wrote for angular/angular.js, that was later adjusted
by @matsko in #13815.
Ideally we should switch over to something like https://www.npmjs.com/package/commitplease
as suggested in #9953 but that package currently doesn't support strict scope checking,
which is one of the primarily goal of this PR.
Note that this PR removes support for "chore" which was previously overused
by everyone on the team.
