Paul Gschwendtner 69a612d402 refactor(service-worker): ensure compatibility with typescript strict flag (#30993)
As part of FW-1265, the `@angular/service-worker` package is made compatible
with the TypeScript `--strict` flag. Read more about the strict flag [here](https://www.typescriptlang.org/docs/handbook/compiler-options.html)

George Kalpakas 19e8570ac0 refactor(service-worker): remove redundant cache operation (#30977)

George Kalpakas d7be38f84b fix(service-worker): cache opaque responses in data groups with `freshness` strategy (#30977)
Previously, (presummably due to a typo) the `okToCacheOpaque` argument
of `DataGroup#cacheResponse()` was essentially never taken into account
(since opaque responses have a non-200 status code and thus `res.ok` is
always false).

This commit fixes the typo, which allows opaque responses to be cached
when `okToCacheOpaque` is true (i.e. in data groups using the
`freshness` strategy).

George Kalpakas 2d38623974 refactor(service-worker): make the caching behavior more explicit (#30977)
This commit doesn't change the behavior wrt caching, but it makes it
more explicit that only non-timed-out responses are cached. In case of a
timeout, `res` would be set to a programmatically created 504
`Response`, so `cacheResponse()` (which checks for `res.ok`) would not
have cached it anyway, but this makes change makes it more explicit (and
more similar to the equivalent part in [handleFetchWithFreshness()][1]).

George Kalpakas 5306330d85 test(service-worker): better simulate opaque requests (#30977)
Previously, opaque responses where handled a little differently than
other responses from the mock server. More specifically, they were not
tracked (so no assertions could be made for them) and their
[`Body` mixin][1] methods (such as `arrayBuffer()`, `json()`, `text()`)
would throw an error due to `body` being `null`.

This commit ensures opaque responses are also captured on the mock
server and also changes `Body` mixin methods to better simulate the
[spec'd behavior][2].

(These improvements will be necessary to test caching of opaque
responses in a subsequent commit.)

Hoel IRIS a5dd4edab9 fix(service-worker): registration failed on Safari (#31140)
Since Angular v8, and commit b3dda0e, `parseUrl()` can be called without
`relativeTo`, thus `new URL()` can be called with `relativeTo = undefined`.

Safari does not like it and the service worker registration fails:
```js
new URL('https://angular.io/') // OK
new URL('https://angular.io/', undefined) // TypeError
```

Hoel IRIS 81c2a94310 fix(service-worker): avoid uncaught rejection warning when registration fails (#30876)
Service worker API `navigator.serviceWorker.register` can fail in multiple ways.
For example, in Chrome, with an unstable network connection you can have the
following error: `An unknown error occurred when fetching the script.`

In the current state, it creates an `Uncaught (in promise) TypeError:` style of
error, which cannot be caught by the user on his own.

I think it's better to log the error over raising an error that cannot be
caught.

deebloo 39c0152b76 feat(service-worker): expose `SwRegistrationOptions` token to allow runtime config (#21842)
Previously, the ServiceWorker registration options should be defined as
an object literal (in order for them to be compatible with Ahead-of-Time
compilation), thus making it impossible to base the ServiceWorker
behavior on runtime conditions.
This commit allows specifying the registration options using a regular
provider, which means that it can take advantage of the `useFactory`
option to determine the config at runtime, while still remaining
compatible with AoT compilation.

Previously, it was not possible to have multiple apps (using

because each SW would overwrite the caches of the others (even though
their scope was different).

This commit fixes it by ensuring that the cache names created by the SW
are different for each scope.

Previously, if an app version contained the same files as an older

detect it as the latest version (and update clients).

George Kalpakas 48214e2a05 fix(service-worker): ignore passive mixed content requests (#25994)
Although [passive mixed content][1] requests (like images) only produce
a warning without a ServiceWorker, fetching it via a ServiceWorker
results in an error. See
https://github.com/angular/angular/issues/23012#issuecomment-376430187
for more details.

This commit makes the ServiceWorker ignore such requests and let them be
handled by the browser directly to avoid breaking apps that would work
without the ServiceWorker.

Alan Agius fd4e1d69ee build: enable bundle_dts for a number of packages (#28726)
This change enables dts bundling for the following packages and their secondary entry points:

- @angular/animations
- @angular/elements
- @angular/http
- @angular/platform-browser
- @angular/platform-browser-dynamic
- @angular/platform-server
- @angular/platform-webworker
- @angular/platform-webworker-dynamic
- @angular/servce-worker

Dts bundling happens in `ng_module` bazel definition, hence packages such as `@angular/compiler`, `@angular/compiler-cli` and `@angular/langauge service` cannot be flattened as they use `ts_library`.

`@angular/core`, `@angular/common`, `@angular/upgrade` and `@angular/forms` will be done seperatly as it requires some changes either to their source or specs.

Igor Minar 4237c34c78 test(ivy): mark failing test targets with fixme-ivy-jit and fixme-ivy-local tags (#26471)
We are close enough to blacklist a few test targets, rather than whitelist targets to run...

Because bazel rules can be composed of other rules that don't inherit tags automatically,
I had to explicitly mark all of our ts_library and ng_module targes with "ivy-local" and
"ivy-jit" tags so that we can create a query that excludes all fixme- tagged targets even
if those targets are composed of other targets that don't inherit this tag.

This is the updated overview of ivy related bazel tags:

- ivy-only: target that builds or runs only under ivy
- fixme-ivy-jit: target that doesn't yet build or run under ivy with --compile=jit
- fixme-ivy-local: target that doesn't yet build or run under ivy with --compile=local
- no-ivy-jit: target that is not intended to build or run under ivy with --compile=jit

George Kalpakas 2bd767c4a6 fix(service-worker): do not blow up when caches are unwritable (#26042)
In some cases, example when the user clears the caches in DevTools but
the SW remains active on another tab and keeps references to the deleted
caches, trying to write to the cache throws errors (e.g.
`Entry was not found`).

When this happens, the SW can no longer work correctly and should enter
a degraded mode allowing requests to be served from the network.

Possibly related:

network.

George Kalpakas 250527ca68 feat(service-worker): add support for `?` in SW config globbing (#24105)
The globbing is used in the following sections:
- `assetGroups` > `resources` > `files`/`versionedFiles`
- `assetGroups` > `resources` > `urls`
- `dataGroups` > `urls`
- `navigationUrls`

Query params are ignored for `files`/`versionedFiles` and
`navigationUrls`, but they are still taken into account for
`assetGroups`/`dataGroups` `urls`. To avoid a breaking change, `?` is
matched literally for these patterns.

George Kalpakas 00c110b055 build: upgrade jasmine (and related typings) to latest version (#19904)
With these changes, the types are a little stricter now and also not
compatible with Protractor's jasmine-like syntax. So, we have to also
use `@types/jasminewd2` for e2e tests (but not for non-e2e tests).

I also had to "augment" `@types/jasminewd2`, because the latest
typings from [DefinitelyTyped][1] do not reflect the fact that the
`jasminewd2` version (v2.1.0) currently used by Protractor supports
passing a `done` callback to a spec.

All errors for existing fields have been detected and suppressed with a

Issue/24571 is tracking proper clean up of those instances.

One-line change required in ivy/compilation.ts, because it appears that
the new syntax causes tsickle emitted node to no longer track their
original sourceFiles.

Two new CircleCI environments are created: test_ivy_jit and test_ivy_aot.

being appropriate for that environment.

Once all the tests pass, builds are published to the *-builds repo both
for the legacy View Engine compiled code as well as for ivy-jit and ivy-aot.

George Kalpakas 1d378e2987 fix(service-worker): deprecate `versionedFiles` in asset-group resources (#23584)
Since `versionedFiles` behaves in the exact same way as `files`, there
is no reaason to have both. Users should use `files` instead.

This commit deprecates the property and prints a warning when coming
across an asset-group that uses it. It should be completely removed in
a future version.

Note, it has also been removed from the default `ngsw-config.json`
template in angular/devkit#754.

George Kalpakas e0ed59e55f fix(service-worker): correctly handle requests with empty `clientId` (#23625)
Requests from clients that are not assigned a client ID by the browser
will produce `fetch` events with `null` or empty (`''`) `clientId`s.

Previously, the ServiceWorker only handled `null` values correctly. Yet
empty strings are also valid (see for example [here][1] and [there][2]).
With this commit, the SW will interpret _all_ falsy `clientId` values
the same (i.e. "no client ID assigned") and handle them appropriately.

George Kalpakas 6c2c95851a fix(service-worker): let `*` match 0 characters in globs (#23339)
In [glob patterns][1], the `*` wildcard is supposed to match 0 or more
characters.

For reference:
- This is also how `*` works in other implementations, such as
`.gitignore` files or Firebase hosting config.
- Some popular JS implementations (e.g. [minimatch][2], [micromatch][3])
work differently, matching 1 or more character (but not 0).

This commit "fixes" the minimal glob support in
`@angular/service-worker` to allow `*` to also match 0 characters.

George Kalpakas 08325aaffc feat(service-worker): add support for configuring navigations URLs (#23339)
The ServiceWorker will redirect navigation requests that don't match any
`asset` or `data` group to the specified index file. The rules for a
request to be classified as a navigation request are as follows:
1. Its `mode` must be `navigation`.
2. It must accept a `text/html` response.
3. Its URL must match certain criteria (see below).

By default, a navigation request can have any URL except for:
1. URLs containing `__`.
2. URLs to files (i.e. containing a file extension in the last path
   segment).

While these rules are fine in many cases, sometimes it is desirable to
configure different rules for the URLs of navigation requests (e.g.
ignore specific URLs and pass them through to the server).

This commit adds support for specifying an optional `navigationUrls`
list in `ngsw-config.json`, which contains URLs or simple globs
(currently only recognizing `!`, `*` and `**`).
Only requests whose URLs match any of the positive URLs/patterns and
none of the negative ones (i.e. URLs/patterns starting with `!`) will be
considered navigation requests (and handled accordingly by the SW).

(This is an alternative implementation to #23025.)
