Kristiyan Kostadinov a787f78074 test: clean up internal testing utilities (#42177)
We have some internal proxies for all of the Jasmine functions, as well as some other helpers. This code hasn't been touched in more than 5 years, it can lead to confusion and it isn't really necessary since the same can be achieved using Jasmine.

These changes remove most of the code and clean up our existing unit tests.

Adrian Rutkowski c8f056beb6 fix(core): ensure TestBed is not instantiated before override provider (#38717)
There is an inconsistency in overrideProvider behaviour. Testing documentation says
(https://angular.io/guide/testing-components-basics#createcomponent) that all override...
methods throw error if TestBed is already instantiated. However overrideProvider doesn't throw any error, but (same as
other override... methods) doesn't replace providers if TestBed is instantiated. Add TestBed instantiation check to
overrideProvider method to make it consistent.

BREAKING CHANGE:

If you call `TestBed.overrideProvider` after TestBed initialization, provider overrides are not applied. This
behavior is consistent with other override methods (such as `TestBed.overrideDirective`, etc) but they
throw an error to indicate that, when the check was missing in the `TestBed.overrideProvider` function.
Now calling `TestBed.overrideProvider` after TestBed initialization also triggers an
error, thus there is a chance that some tests (where `TestBed.overrideProvider` is
called after TestBed initialization) will start to fail and require updates to move `TestBed.overrideProvider` calls
before TestBed initialization is completed.

crisbeto 9d9d46f52b fix(core): log error instead of warning for unknown properties and elements (#36399)
Changes the Ivy unknown element/property messages from being logged with `console.warn` to `console.error`. This should make them a bit more visible without breaking existing apps. Furthermore, a lot of folks filter out warning messages in the dev tools' console, whereas errors are usually still shown.

BREAKING CHANGE:
Warnings about unknown elements are now logged as errors. This won't break your app, but it may trip up tools that expect nothing to be logged via `console.error`.

Kara Erickson 64fd0d6db9 refactor(core): rename ngComponentDef to ɵcmp (#33088)
Component defs are not considered public API, so the property
that contains them should be prefixed with Angular's marker
for "private" ('ɵ') to discourage apps from relying on def
APIs directly.

This commit adds the prefix and shortens the name from
`ngComponentDef` to `cmp`. This is because property names
cannot be minified by Uglify without turning on property
mangling (which most apps have turned off) and are thus
size-sensitive.

Note that the other "defs" (ngDirectiveDef, etc) will be
prefixed and shortened in follow-up PRs, in an attempt to
limit how large and conflict-y this change is.

Kara Erickson a96976e88f fix(core): remove deprecated `TestBed.deprecatedOverrideProvider` API (#30576)
BREAKING CHANGE

In PR #19558, we fixed a bug in `TestBed.overrideProvider` where
eager providers were not being instantiated correctly. However,
it turned out that since this bug had been around for quite a bit,
many apps were relying on the broken behavior where the providers
would not be instantiated. To assist in the transition, the
`TestBed.deprecatedOverrideProvider` method was temporarily
introduced to mimic the old behavior so that apps would have a
longer time period to migrate their code.

2 years and 3 versions later, it is time to remove the temporary
method. This commit removes `TestBed.deprecatedOverrideProvider`
altogether. Any usages of `TestBed.deprecatedOverrideProvider`
should be replaced with `TestBed.overrideProvider`. This may mean
that providers that were not created before will now be instantiated,
which could mean that your tests need to provide more mocks or stubs
for the dependencies of the newly instantiated providers.

Andrew Kushnir 309ffe7e16 fix(ivy): TestBed rewrite to avoid unnecessary recompilations (#29483)
Prior to this change, Ivy version of TestBed was not designed to support the logic to avoid recompilations - most of the Components/Directives/Pipes were recompiled for each test, even if there were no overrides defined for a given Type. Additional checks to avoid recompilation were introduced in one of the previous commits (0244a2433e), but there were still some corner cases that required attention. In order to support the necessary logic better, Ivy TestBed was rewritten/refactored. Main results of this rewrite are:

* no recompilation for Components/Directives/Pipes without overrides
* the logic to restore state between tests (isolate tests) was improved
* transitive scopes calculation no longer performs recompilation (it works with compiled defs)

As a result of these changes we see reduction in memory consumption (3.5-4x improvement) and pefromance increase (4-4.5x improvement).

Andrew Kushnir 0244a2433e feat(ivy): avoid unnecessary recompilations in TestBed (#29294)
Prior to this change, we always recompile all Components/Directives/Pipes even if they were AOT-compiled and had no overrides. This is causing problems in case we try to recompile a Component with "templateUrl" or "styleUrls" (which were already resolved in case of AOT) and generally this unnecessary work that TestBed was doing is not required. This commit adds extra logic to check whether a Component/Directive/Pipe already have compiled NG def (like ngComponentDef) and whether there are no overrides present - in this case recompilation is skipped. Recompilation is also skipped in case a Component/Directive has only Provider overrides - in this situation providers resolver function is patched to reflect overrides. Provider overrides are very common in g3, thus this code path ensures no full recompilation.

Kara Erickson 46aec4a58f feat(ivy): support host properties in DebugElement.properties (#28355)
DebugElement.properties should contain a map of element
property names to element property values, with entries
for both normal property bindings and host bindings.
Many Angular core tests depend on this map being present.

This commit adds support for host property bindings in
DebugElement.properties, which fixes the Angular core tests.
There is still work to be done for normal property bindings.

Olivier Combe 29bff0f02e feat(ivy): implement `compileComponents` method for `TestBedRender3` (#27778)
The implementation of the `compileComponents` method for `TestBedRender3` was missing.
We now pass each component through `resolveComponentResources` when `TestBed.compileComponents` is called so that `templateUrl` and `styleUrls` can be resolved asynchronously and used once `TestBed.createComponent` is called.
The component's metadata are overriden in `TestBed` instead of mutating the original metadata like this is the case outside of TestBed. The reason for that is that we need to ensure that we didn't mutate anything so that the following tests can run with the same original metadata, otherwise we it could trigger or hide some errors.

Andrew Kushnir 509aa61619 fix(ivy): apply all overrides from TestBed, not the last one only (#27734)
In some cases in our tests we can define multiple overrides for a given class. As a result, only the last override is actually applied due to the fact that we store overrides in a Type<->Override map. This update changes the logic to keep all overrides defined in a given test for a Type (i.e. Type<->Override[] map) and applies them one by one at resolution phase. This behavior is more inline with the previous TestBed.

George Kalpakas 00c110b055 build: upgrade jasmine (and related typings) to latest version (#19904)
With these changes, the types are a little stricter now and also not
compatible with Protractor's jasmine-like syntax. So, we have to also
use `@types/jasminewd2` for e2e tests (but not for non-e2e tests).

I also had to "augment" `@types/jasminewd2`, because the latest
typings from [DefinitelyTyped][1] do not reflect the fact that the
`jasminewd2` version (v2.1.0) currently used by Protractor supports
passing a `done` callback to a spec.
