In the unlikely corner case of deleting a relocation (hence `WAITING`) primary shard's
index during a partial snapshot, we would throw an NPE when checking if there's any external
changes to process.
This commit adds conditional logic to the docs to avoid including any
docs on searchable snapshots in released versions.
Rework of #58556 which was reverted.
Adds an API for putting an index block in place, which also ensures for write blocks that, once successfully returning to
the user, all shards of the index are properly accounting for the block, for example that all in-flight writes to an index have
been completed after adding the write block.
This API allows coordinating more complex workflows, where it is crucial that an index is no longer receiving writes after
the API completes, useful for example when marking an index as read-only during an upgrade in order to reindex its
documents.
RandomZone test method returns a ZoneId from the set of ids supported by
java. The only difference between joda and java supported timezones are
SystemV* timezones.
These should be excluded from randomZone method as they would break
testing. They also do not bring much confidence when used in testing as
I suspect they are rarely used.
That exclude should be removed for simplification once joda support is removed.
This commit adds the BuildParams.testSeed to the repository base paths used
in searchable snapshots QA tests. For S3 and GCS the test seed is added for
coherency sake with other integration tests while it's required for Azure as
Azure 3rd party tests are executed on CI simultaneously for regular and
SAS token accounts.
Closes#58260
The GET /_license endpoint displays "enterprise" licenses as
"platinum" by default so that old clients (including beats, kibana and
logstash) know to interpret this new license type as if it were a
platinum license.
However, this compatibility layer was not applied to the GET /_xpack/
endpoint which also displays a license type & mode.
This commit causes the _xpack API to mimic the _license API and treat
enterprise as platinum by default, with a new accept_enterprise
parameter that will cause the API to return the correct "enterprise"
value.
This BWC layer exists only for the 7.x branch.
This is a breaking change because, since 7.6, the _xpack API has
returned "enterprise" for enterprise licenses, but this has been found
to break old versions of beats and logstash so needs to be corrected.
When a packaging test completes, we move the elasticsearch logfile to
another location so that if the next test fails, we have just the
contents of the test that ran. However, once the test fails, we continue
trying to move this file in the subsequent calls to teardown when the
rest of the tests are skipped. This commit skips the teardown step once
we have marked the suite as failed.
Previously we had odd issues in CI with vagrant which we attempted to
diagnose by enabling debug logging within our vagrant commands. However,
the debug logging didn't explain anything additional to the failures,
and it is extremely verbose. This commit removes the debug logging.

SparseFileTracker.Gap can keep a reference to the corresponding range it is about to fill,
it does not need to resolve the range each time onSuccess/onProgress/onFailure are
called.

Adds parsing of `status` and `memory_reestimate_bytes`
to data frame analytics `memory_usage`. When the training surpasses
the model memory limit, the status will be set to `hard_limit` and
`memory_reestimate_bytes` can be used to update the job's
limit in order to restart the job.

Java 9 removed pathname canonicalization, which means that we need to
add permissions for the path and also the real path when adding file
permissions. Since master requires a minimum runtime of JDK 11, we no
longer need conditional logic here to apply this pathname
canonicalization with our bares hands. This commit removes that
conditional pathname canonicalization.

`asMultiBucketAggregator` but now that it is gone
`collectsFromSingleBucket` is good enough.

Today SparseFileTracker allows to wait for a range to become available
before executing a given listener. In the case of searchable snapshot,
we'd like to be able to wait for a large range to be filled (ie, downloaded
and written to disk) while being able to execute the listener as soon as
a smaller range is available.
This pull request is an extract from #58164 which introduces a
ProgressListenableActionFuture that is used internally by
SparseFileTracker. The progressive listenable future allows to register
listeners attached to SparseFileTracker.Gap so that they are executed
once the Gap is completed (with success or failure) or as soon as the
Gap progress reaches a given progress value. This progress value is
defined when the tracker.waitForRange() method is called; this method
has been modified to accept a range and another listener's range to
operate on.

Replaces `composable index template` and `composable template` with
`index template` throughout data stream-related docs.
`Composable index template` is only used to contrast with legacy index
templates.
Removes references to partial results from the async EQL search docs.
If an EQL search does not complete during the `wait_for_completion_timeout`
timeout period, it returns no results.
Minor bugs/inconsistencies:
If a shard hasn't changed at all we were reporting `0` for total size and total file count
while it was ongoing.
If a data node restarts/drops out during snapshot creation the fallback logic did not load the correct statistic from the repository but just created a status with `0` counts from the snapshot state in the CS. Added a fallback to reading from the repository in this case.
Changes the titles for tokenizer pages to sentence case.
Also moves the 'Path hierarchy tokenizer examples' page within the
'Path hierarchy tokenizer' page and adds a related redirect.
This commit converts the bats tests for the plugin cli into the java
packaging test framework. The new tests only use the example plugin to
test the plugin cli. The tests for each individual plugin's contents
after being installed are handled by a new unit test for the plugin
installer added in #58287.
