07c1ddc487 fix(router): error if module is destroyed before location is initialized (#42560)
This is something I ran into while working on a fix for the `TestBed` module teardown behavior for #18831. In the `RouterInitializer.appInitializer` we have a callback to the `LOCATION_INITIALIZED` which has to do some DI lookups. The problem is that if the module is destroyed before the location promise resolves, the `Injector.get` calls will fail. This is unlikely to happen in a real app, but it'll show up in unit tests once the test module teardown behavior is fixed.

3c66b100dd perf(common): remove unused methods from DomAdapter (#41102)
The `DomAdapter` is present in all Angular apps and its methods aren't tree shakeable.
These changes remove the methods that either aren't being used anymore or were only
used by our own tests. Note that these changes aren't breaking, because the adapter
is an internal API.

The following methods were removed:
* `getProperty` - only used within our own tests.
* `log` - Guaranteed to be defined on `console`.
* `logGroup` and `logGroupEnd` - Only used in one place. It was in the DomAdapter for built-in null checking.
* `logGroupEnd` - Only used in one place. It was placed in the DomAdapter for built in null checking.
* `performanceNow` - Only used in one place that has to be invoked through the browser console.
* `supportsCookies` - Unused.
* `getCookie` - Unused.
* `getLocation` and `getHistory` - Only used in one place which appears to have access to the DOM
already, because it had direct accesses to `window`. Furthermore, even if this was being used
in a non-browser context already, the `DominoAdapter` was set up to throw an error.

The following APIs were changed to be more compact:
* `supportsDOMEvents` - Changed to a readonly property.
* `remove` - No longer returns the removed node.

ca721c2972 feat(core): more precise type for APP_INITIALIZER token (#40986)
This commit updates the type of the `APP_INITIALIZER` injection token to
better document the expected types of values that Angular handles. Only
Promises and Observables are awaited and other types of values are ignored,
so the type of `APP_INITIALIZER` has been updated to
`Promise<unknown> | Observable<unknown> | void` to reflect this behavior.

BREAKING CHANGE:

The type of the `APP_INITIALIZER` token has been changed to more accurately
reflect the types of return values that are handled by Angular. Previously,
each initializer callback was typed to return `any`, this is now
`Promise<unknown> | Observable<unknown> | void`. In the unlikely event that
your application uses the `Injector.get` or `TestBed.inject` API to inject
the `APP_INITIALIZER` token, you may need to update the code to account for
the stricter type.

Additionally, TypeScript may report the TS2742 error if the `APP_INITIALIZER`
token is used in an expression of which its inferred type has to be emitted
into a .d.ts file. To workaround this, an explicit type annotation is needed,
which would typically be `Provider` or `Provider[]`.

605775398f docs(router): Clarify 'parent' for params inheritance (#40304)
When talking about parameter inheritance, one might think that matrix
parameters can be inherited from the "parent" segment, or the segment
which appears immediately to the left. In reality, when we talk about
a "parent" in the `Router`, we mean the parent `Route` config. This
config may contain more than one segment and matrix parameters must
appear at the end or they do not "belong" to any config.

c4becca0e4 feat(router): add new initialNavigation options to replace legacy (#37480)
As of Angular v4, four of the options for
`ExtraOptions#initialNavigation` have been deprecated. We intend
to remove them in v11. The final state for these options is:
`enabledBlocking`, `enabledNonBlocking`, and `disabled`. We plan
to remove and deprecate the remaining option in the next two
major releases.

New options:
- `enabledNonBlocking`: same as legacy_enabled
- `enabledBlocking`: same as enabled

BREAKING CHANGE:

* The `initialNavigation` property for the options in
  `RouterModule.forRoot` no longer supports `legacy_disabled`,
  `legacy_enabled`, `true`, or `false` as valid values.
`legacy_enabled` (the old default) is instead `enabledNonBlocking`
* `enabled` is deprecated as a valid value for the
  `RouterModule.forRoot` `initialNavigation` option. `enabledBlocking`
has been introduced to replace it

d8c05347c3 fix(router): properly assign ExtraOptions to Router in RouterTestingModule (#39096)

Now, it assigns the same options as RouterModule does (with the exception of enableTracing) via a
new shared function assignExtraOptionsToRouter.

837889f0a4 fix(router): make relativeLinkResolution corrected by default (#25609)
We are changing the default value from 'legacy' to 'corrected' so that new
applications are automatically opted-in to the corrected behavior from #22394.

BREAKING CHANGE: This commit changes the default value of
`relativeLinkResolution` from `'legacy'` to `'default'`. If your
application previously used the default by not specifying a value in the
`ExtraOptions` and uses relative links when navigating from children of
empty path routes, you will need to update your `RouterModule` to
specifically specify `'legacy'` for `relativeLinkResolution`.
See https://angular.io/api/router/ExtraOptions#relativeLinkResolution
for more details.

c839c05620 fix(router): removed unused ApplicationRef dependency (#35642)
As a part of the process of setting up Router providers, we use `ApplicationRef` as a dependency while providing `Router` token. The thing is that `ApplicationRef` is actually unused (all referenced were removed in 5a849829c4 (diff-c0baae5e1df628e1a217e8dc38557fcb)), but it's still listed as dependency. This is causing problems in case `Router` is used as a dependency for factory functions provided as `APP_INITIALIZERS` multi-token (causing cyclic dependency). This commit removes unused `ApplicationRef` dependency in `Router`, so it can be used without causing cyclic dependency issue.

a23ee2b0a1 docs(router): make InitialNavigation part of the public API (#32707)
`InitialNavigation` is used in `ExtraOptions`, which is already part of
the public API. Thus, `InitialNavigation` should be too. Not publicly
exporting it from `router/index.ts` seems an omission, since the type is
already annotated with the `@publicApi` JSDoc tag.

By publicly exporting `InitialNavigation`, it will also correctly appear
in the API docs on angular.io.

60aeee7abf feat(ivy): selector side of ModuleWithProviders via type metadata (#24862)
Within an @NgModule it's common to include in the imports a call to
a ModuleWithProviders function, for example RouterModule.forRoot().
The old ngc compiler was able to handle this pattern because it had
global knowledge of metadata of not only the input compilation unit
but also all dependencies.

The ngtsc compiler for Ivy doesn't have this knowledge, so the
pattern of ModuleWithProviders functions is more difficult. ngtsc
must be able to determine which module is imported via the function
in order to expand the selector scope and properly tree-shake
directives and pipes.

This commit implements a solution to this problem, by adding a type
parameter to ModuleWithProviders through which the actual module
type can be passed between compilation units.

The provider side isn't a problem because the imports are always
copied directly to the ngInjectorDef.

5efea2f6a0 feat(router): add "paramsInheritanceStrategy" router configuration option
Previously, the router would merge path and matrix params, as well as

"paramsInheritanceStrategy" which, when set to 'always', makes child
routes unconditionally inherit params from parent routes.
